Draupadi - The Tale of an Empress

For all the Indic lovers and Readers who are passionate about Mahabharata out there...!

Draupadi - The Tale of an empress written by Saiswaroopa Iyer is a must read.. ❤

The incredible narrative style would keep one engaged to the marvelous book. The author has written a  beautiful tale on one of the most vital woman who has influenced our noble land of Bharatvarsha. The author has written the marvelous tale, diligently sticking on to our immortal epic Mahabharata as given by our great guru Krishna Dwaipayana. Through this amazing book, one can witness the entire Mahabharata through the eyes of Draupadi.

The book begins with, Uttara narrating the great tale of Draupadi to her grandson Janamejaya.

Draupadi as described in the book is a woman of high morale. Combined with kindness, a spirit of service, courage and intelligence she is an amazing inspiration to all the women of our noble nation. Draupadi had always been an ideal in all aspects - a loving daughter of King Drupada, a caring wife of the Pandavas, an obedient daughter-in-law of Kunti, a best friend of Rukmini, a sweet sister of Subhadra, a compassionate mother of Uttara, and above all a beloved and the most cherished Sakhi of her dear Sakha Krishna.

The words that would ever keep ringing in my ears like a lovely melody are the following words spoken by Draupadi to Arjuna, "Destiny delays somethings so that more can happen in the wake, Arjuna. A river joins the sea in its natural course. But when humankind delays its union by digging canals and building dams, the sea and the river pine for each other, only to realize that the wait was worth it, when they see the lush land and flourishing civilization that benefitted because of the wait. Isn't the wait worth it, Arjuna?"

Draupadi is a blend of both softness and strength. Her intimate bonding with Uttara is phenomenal. The part in which Draupadi faces humiliation in the assembly of the Kauravas infuriates anger on Duryodhana and Dusshasana. The part that devastated me the most was when Draupadi realised that all her sons were killed on the final night of the battle.

Overall, the fantabulous book has been written with great sensitivity and passion. And the character of Draupadi would resonate with every reader. The marvelous saga of a truly noble empress must be read and cherished by each and every Indian.
